FROM STAFF REPORTS ? October 7, 2009

COLUMBIA ? Spring Hill Realtor David Miller is set to open his Haunted Woods experience south of town for its second season on Friday.

"Last year we had over 2,400 customers come out and we got lots of great feedback," Miller said. "We gave locals a reason not to drive to Nashville for a good spook and now people are talking about driving here from Nashville and other areas because they've heard about our unique experience."

Miller attended an International Haunt Convention in St. Louis in the spring.

"People were excited to share the latest tricks and what works for them, and we'll be showing off what we learned," he said. "We can't wait until opening night."

CANTON, GA., - Just about everyone talks about exercising more and losing a few pounds these days.  Putting those words into action and ?actual results' is sometimes the most difficult hurdle to get over.

In an effort to turn the talk into reality - a local Realtor is gearing-up to start a 90-day weight loss contest.  It's open to other Realtors and anyone in and around Canton who is interested in losing a few pounds and living a healthier life right now.

"By the start of the new year we hope to see some amazing results and transformations," said Bobby Murphy, a Realtor with Crye-Leike, REALTORS in Canton.  "I love helping people and I've discovered that I personally simply will not make the time for myself to lose weight and get healthy - so this is a win-win for me and everyone who joins in."

Murphy has invited everyone in the Crye-Leike Canton office to participate and extends the same invitati...

Memphis, TN., - Finding out you were nominated by your Realtor colleagues to campaign for a position on a local Realtor Board might seem like a overwhelming task - but that wasn't the feeling for Affiliate Broker Frances Anderson.

"We campaigned to MAAR members on September 3, 2009 and the candidate selected to serve was to be announced at the annual election," said Crye-Leike Affiliate Broker Frances Anderson. "I was deeply honored and grateful to learn I had been elected to this new office by my fellow agents."

A love and passion for her profession as a Realtor for 10 years now will help Frances serve as the new Realtor-Associate Director of the MAAR for the 2010 to 2012 term.

MEMPHIS, TN - The government is offering you the chance to save $8,000 when you buy your first house, but not for much longer. The stimulus plan's tax credit is over December 1st, but you don't have as long to act on it as you may think.

"It's up to $8,000," said Memphis-area Crye-Leike Realtor Judson Williford. "10% up to $8,000, so, if you buy an $80,000 home, you're getting that full credit."

Williford says house hunters should hurry up and buy before it's too late.

"We're really encourage buyers to get out there and find the house they want, in order to be under contract by no later than the middle of October," he said. "Because these banks are going to start getting busy."

Realtors in Crye-Leike's Dickson office put everything up for sale but their goal was not to sell homes.

The sales associates hosted two yards sales at the office to raise money for United Way. Each year the office of Realtors organize a yard sale as their way of participating in Crye-Leike's annual United Way Campaign held in September.

"For the past several years we've held a big yard sale in September, but due to an excess of donations from last year we decided to have two sales this year," said Cindy Smith, Crye-Leike Dickson Affiliate Broker and Office Captain for United Way. "Our sale in July brought in $500 and the sale we had in September brought in $1,025."

The grand total for both yard sales was $1,525. All the funds raised will go to assist local charities supported by United Way.
